Brett Kern

Brett Kern missed practice Thursday with a groin injury, prompting the Titans to add punter Johnny Townsend to the roster.

Tennessee Titans punter Brett Kern was unable to practice Thursday with a groin injury after being limited by the injury on Wednesday.

To provide some insurance, the Titans signed punter Johnny Townsend to the active roster on Thursday, indicating that he could be pressed into action Sunday against the New York Jets if Kern is unable to go.

Kern suffered a wrist injury last year and also missed a game due to being on the Covid-19 list. He punted in 13 games in 2020, the first time he had missed time since joining the Titans back in 2009.

Elsewhere, receivers A.J. Brown and Julio Jones continue to miss time with their hamstring injuries.

Outside linebacker Bud Dupree (knee) and cornerback Caleb Farley continue to be out as well.

Nose tackle Teair Tart and guard Rodger Saffold were limited, both with shoulder injuries.

Derrick Henry was given the day off to rest.

Kristian Fulton (ankle) and Taylor Lewan (toe) were full participants after being limited Wednesday.
