Darrynton Evans

Darrynton Evans heads to injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

The Tennessee Titans made some roster moves before practice on Thursday, activating defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Covid-19/reserve list and placing running back Darrynton Evans on injured reserve.

The Titans also designated safety Dane Cruikshank for return off of injured reserve, opening a three-week window for them to evaluate him.

In getting Simmons back for this Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, the Titans will have their full complement of starters on the defensive line. DaQuan Jones returned from the Covid-19/reserve list earlier this week and was able to play against Buffalo on Tuesday night.

Evans is out for the second time with a hamstring issue, after missing time earlier in training camp and the start of the season with the injury. Jeremy McNichols, who had 28 yards on nine rushes Tuesday night, will take over as Derrick Henry's top backup.

"Jeremy is one of those players who has taken advantage of his opportunities," Titans coach Mike Vrabel said. "He is one of those guys who puts the team first."

Cruikshank went down early in training camp with an undisclosed injury and was placed on injured reserve after the team’s 53-man roster was set, allowing the Titans the opportunity to bring him back.
