Former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is rejoining the organization, per a league source with knowledge of the situation.
Schwartz, who most recently served as defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles, resigned after the 2020 season in a year of upheaval for the Eagles.
Schwartz was the Titans defensive coordinator from 2000 through 2008 when he took the head coaching job of the Detroit Lions.
Schwartz will likely be in an advisory role to the defense as he rejoins the organization. The Titans named Shane Bowen defensive coordinator in the off-season after he held the responsibilities of the position in 2019.
Schwartz had left the Eagles apparently with the intent of sitting out 2021. However, he has a home in the Nashville area.
Tennessee's defense was one of the worst in the NFL last season allowing a nearly 53 percent conversion rate on third downs and producing only 19 sacks in 2020.
