The Tennessee Titans have waived veteran punter Ryan Allen, which indicates that they will go forward with Trevor Daniel, who struggled against the Indianapolis Colts last Thursday night.
Daniel had a 17-yard punt that was shanked, that the Colts used to score the go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter.
On the Titans’ next possession, Daniel’s punt was blocked by the Colts’ E.J. Speed and returned for a touchdown by Indy’s T.J. Carrie.
Daniel, a former Dickson County High School and University of Tennessee punter, was signed by the Titans to their practice squad following a wrist injury to Brett Kern against Cincinnati.
The Titans also signed Allen to the active roster that same day and he punted against Chicago, averaging 50.5 yards per punt on eight kicks that day.
The Titans elected to go with Daniel on a short week, citing his work in practice as earning him the chance against Indianapolis.
Daniel also served as the Titans holder against the Colts, where Stephen Gostkowski missed a 44-yard field goal.
